Welcome to California Unclaimed Properties Information for Investigators site. The information here should be helpful to Investigators as well as others in returning unclaimed funds to the rightful owners. The source of data is the California State Controller's Office (CCP 1582).
Unlike other websites that focus on individuals/businesses searching through the nearly 60-70 million unclaimed properties being held by the State of California, this website searches only the 3 million or so unclaimed properties of $500 and more. The website also provides searching by criteria (e.g., zip code, cash amounts, date) beyond name and addresses.
If you are not an Investigator and want to know how to become one, please see the first link at the end of this webpage.
How to use
Register with a user name and password (email is optional) and then navigate to the home page via the Navigation bar. Enter various criteria, click the Search button, review results, adjust criteria until you have desired results. Click on "Download Set" button. You will be directed to Paypal for payment of the information prior to the download. After succesful payment, you can download in the pdf, csv and/or excel formant. Open output example for an pdf example of downloaded results.
Alternatively, if you do not register the search provides search results with much of the information hidden and not downloadable in any of the three format. The nonregistered searches are designed to show the capabilities with minimial information of the property owners.

Cost
Although browsing through most of the information is free, there is a cost to download information. A link to the PayPal payment system (Note: PayPal facilitates the use of other credit cards in case you don’t have a PayPal account) will be provided at the point you want to obtain the full information needed to find the listed property owner.
The cost will be $?? up to 50 records requested. In other words, if you want 2 or 49 records, the cost is the same - $?? per download.
User Registration/Login
When a user establishes an account. The account will keep track of previous purchased searches. If the user provides an email at the time of registration, the email address will be used in resetting the password for the account. If no email is provided at registration, a user password cannot be reset. One consequence of this situation is the loss of past purchased search information for that account. A user can obviously register under a different name and provide an email in case, if the situation arises again.
